Made an offering to Seattle’s new Troll Queen Bruun Idun today. A prayer feather from my Hyacinth Macaw Parrot Princess Tara. Looks good on her! 😁
Bruun Idun is the third of six troll sculptures Danish environmental artist and activist Thomas Dambo is creating around the Pacific Northwest.
According to the elaborate backstory created by Thomas Dambo for his troll sculptures, legend has it that a global gathering of trolls happens every 211 years. During the most-recent gathering, the trolls became angry with the humans who have stopped listening to nature and have been harming the Earth. They ultimately decided the best course of action was to eat the humans to save the planet.
But a group of six young trolls here in the Pacific Northwest believed the humans were just young and ignorant, and because they "only live around eighty circles of light," they can't grasp the big picture. These young trolls decided to form a gang to save the humans and help them learn instead of destroying them.
Fashioned out of recycled materials, the large-scale public art installations by Dambo tell a tale of protecting nature and honoring the land and waterways.
